"There are things much older than souls in Purgatory. Long before God created Angels and man he made the first beasts: the Leviathan. I personally found them entertaining but he was concerned they'd chomp the entire Petri dish. So he locked them away. Why do you think he created Purgatory? To keep those clever, poisonous things out." - Death
Leviathan are hungry, poisonous, and nigh unkillable. The most important aspect of this sentence is they are hungry. Leviathan are constantly concerned about where their next meal is coming from and most of their actions (certainly the overarching intentions of them) are motivated by their need to feed.
Abilities: Shape-shifting into any person by coming in contact with DNA, invincibility, gigantic mouth full of teeth
Weaknesses: Borax, cutting off the head and separating it from the body (doesn't kill them, just stops regeneration). Blood of the Fallen and "bibbing" will kill them.
Tell-Tale Signs: You can reveal a leviathan by cutting them. Leviathan bleed black. A bit of Borax also acts on them like a corrosive.
Purgatory
Away from Heaven or Hell, it is where the souls of monsters go when they die. It is said Purgatory is a place for them to prey upon one another for all eternity. It looks like an endless forest and mountain terrain, from what has been seen so far, with rivers flowing throughout.
Purgatory was originally made to hold the Leviathan separate from Earth, but came to be home to Eve, the Mother of Monsters, and she supposedly birthed monsters from there.
